Learning objectives

The course provides students with knowledge, understanding and skills related to the role of ergonomics in prevention, protection, promotion and management of workplace health and safety with a particular focus on psychosocial risk factors.
The student will acquire knowledge and understanding on the principles of occupational medicine, risk assessment, health surveillance, fitness for job, specific legislation, health education, primary, secondary and tertiary prevention, with reference to the role of ergonomic and psychosocial risk factors in a multidisciplinary perspective

Program

1- Ergonomics: definition and historical, normative notes
2- Physical Ergonomics:
• musculoskeletal disorders (epidemiology, spine, upper limbs and lower limbs disorders)
• biomechanical overload (instruments, general notes, examples)
• preventive interventions (examples)
• return to work
3- Ergonomics and video terminals:
• Specific legislation
• Effects (visual and musculoskeletal system)
• visual commitment, ergonomic parameters of the workstations
• Preventive interventions
4- Psychosocial Risks
• Definitions and legislation
• Effects on health
