Learning outcomes
The integrated course of Microbiology and Hygiene aims to give students the integrated skills regarding the notions of Hygiene, microbiology and the basics of immunology. This concerns in particular the possession of: - specific knowledge and general and specific patterns of epidemiology and prevention of chronic-degenerative and infectious diseases, with particular regard to those related to the dental profession - knowledge of the techniques of modern microbiological diagnostics, of the role of microorganisms as agents of infectious diseases, with particular regard to diseases of the oral cavity. - basic knowledge of general pathology and immunology. GENERAL AND APPLIED HYGIENE MODULE Educational objectives. The course must provide to the student the specific knowledge and the correct behavior regarding the epidemiology and prevention of the main infectious and chronic degenerative diseases related to the dental profession. MICROBIOLOGY AND MEDICAL MICROBIOLOGY MODULE Educational objectives. The course of microbiology aims to: • familiarize the student with the knowledge of modern microbiology and the role of microorganisms as agents of infectious pathologies • familiarize the student with the techniques of modern microbiological diagnostics • familiarize the student with the knowledge of the role of microorganisms in important and widespread oral cavity diseases such as caries and periodontal disease GENERAL PATHOLOGY AND IMMUNOLOGY MODULE Objectives for the students is to acquire basic knowledge of general pathology and immunology
