Learning outcomes
The Organic chemistry is the chemistry of carbon and its compounds. Organic molecules are the very essence of life. Many organic substances have helped to improve life (drugs and pesticides), however uncontrolled disposal of chemicals has polluted the environment, impairing the animal and plant life and causing diseases and disorders. To create useful molecules and learn how to control their effects, it is necessary to know their properties and understand its behavior. You must be able, in other words, to apply the principles of Organic Chemistry. Organic Chemistry is a scientific area dynamic and growing, useful for those curious by nature and profession, it poses problems to explore.
Program
Structure, properties and reactivity in organic chemistry. Saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons. Stereochemistry. Alkyl and aryl halides. Benzene and polynuclear aromatic and heteroatomic compounds. Aliphatic and aromatic alcohols, ethers and epoxides. Carbonyl compounds, carboxylic and derivatives thereof. Aliphatic and aromatic amines. Carbohydrates and amino acids.
Examination Methods
The exam consists of a written test, the result of which can be supplemented, at the request of the student, with an oral examination. Should the student wish to advertise only the oral examination, may agree, at the end of the lectures, the methods of making that choice.
