Learning objectives
OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE MODULE
To acquire knowledge and understanding, also thorough field examples, about:
- general principles of occupational medicine and health and safety in workplaces
- principal clinic-epidemiological features on occupational injuries and work-related diseases and disorders - roles of the different professionals and institutions committed to prevention.
- occupational health clinic, with specific reference to occupational history collection, etiological diagnosis, medico-legal obligations, cooperation among health professionals and physicians in order to achieve etiological diagnosis
- legislation on health and safety at work
- exposure and risk assessment, health surveillance, individual susceptibility, vulnerable groups, fitness for work
- primary, secondary, tertiary prevention, with reference to different risk factors (chemicals, physical agents, biohazards, ergonomics, organization and psychosocial factors).
Specific attention will be dedicated to the principles of prevention and monitoring health and safety in workplaces, with reference to sensors, automation, wearable devices, exoskeletons, workplace digitalization, industry 4.0, IoT and beyond.
LEGAL MEDICINE MODULE
The course aims to provide students with the medico-legal knowledge essential for carrying out the medical profession with particular regard to the aspects related to consent to medical acts and information activities towards the Judicial Authority. It also aims to introduce the student to the regulations in force on the subject of crimes against the person, including sexual violence and gender violence, as well as on the subject of professional liability. Finally, among the objectives of the course there is to provide the student with law references and medical-legal reasoning tools suitable for addressing emerging issues regarding informed consent and professional liability linked to the use in health care of new technologies such as artificial intelligence.
Examination Methods
Oral examination finalized to verify the knowledge of the course contents.
Evaluation criteria
The test ascertains the level of knowledge of the theoretical contents and the ability to use language in describing the contents of the program. Appropriate vocabulary for the specific disciplines. Reasoning skills. Practical application of reasoning. The final vote is considered positive for a score equal to or greater than 18/30 and is derived from the arithmetic mean of the marks of the two modules.
