Course of study in brief

AIMS AND CHARACTERISTICS
The degree aims at developing competences and skills in the field of grape and wine science and technology. The course combines scientific subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology, with subjects specific of the wine production chain, such as wine chemistry, soil chemistry, genetics, microbiology, winery equipment and plants, economy. This pool of knowledge is then implemented in the study of professionally-relevant topics such as viticulture and plant defense, enology, wine marketing. In addition to classroom activities, the course also involves different laboratory classes, as well as a period of training to be carried out in an Italian or foreign company.
Overall, at the end of the course the student will acquire the ability to analyze and plan actions in the field of wine production and commercialization, including the capacity to organize experimental trials. Lecturers of the course have a well-established research experience in grape and wine science.
The facilities are located in Villa Lebrecht, a XVI century heritage building located in the Valpolicella area.
 
PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
The graduates will have professional skills in the area of grape and wine production, and will have the professional qualification of Enologo, which is recognized at EU level. Graduates are expected to successfully apply for technical and organizational positions in wine production, as well as in companies producing technologies for the grape and wine industry. Opportunities will be also available as laboratory technician, in professional organizations and in the public sector, as well as wine consultant.
 
FROM SCHOOL TO UNIVERSITY
Access to the course is limited to a total of 56 places per year.

Access to the second year of the course is restricted to students passing CISIA A  test with

  • a score greater than 3 in the areas of ‘Mathematics’, and ‘Physics’
  • a score greater than 3 in the areas of ‘Chemistry, and ‘Biology’

 
Alternatively, remedial course will have to be attended.
