Learning outcomes

The main aim of the course is to deepen the study of Italian Literature (texts, methods, topics, forms and contents), through the analysis of a representative work.

Program

History of Italian literature. Analysis of a representative texts of Dante, Petrarca and Boccaccio.

2) “La monaca di Monza” from «Fermo e Lucia» to «I Promessi sposi». Printing history.
This course is design to give students a general description of Manzoni’s poetics. Particular attention will be given to historical source for the story of the “Monaca di Monza”, through an analysis of the narrative choices from «Fermo e Lucia» to «I Promessi sposi».

Examination Methods

The oral examination will check the knowledge of literary history and will particularly test the reading and analysis of texts. At the end of the course a precise indication of the texts which must be studied, with a list of questions which can be asked during the examination will be given to the students.
