Learning outcomes
By focusing on the most significant texts of the tradition of political thought and pondering on their cultural ‘fortune’, the course aims at providing critical and methodological tools for investigating politically on the history of ideas.
Program
Prerequisites: undergraduate level knowledge in history and philosophy.
Content of course:
The political Fathers of the modern age: from Hobbes’ and Locke’s works originate the two mainstreams of modern political lexicon. By examining analytically the texts, the course focuses on their different conceptual and historical frames and stresses their originality in reference to the classical political tradition.
