Learning outcomes

The goal of the course is to acquaint students with various languages for special purposes (LSPs) and equip them to analyse them thoroughly. The LSPs chosen for study are those of commerce and tourism.

Learning goals

Acquiring competence in Language for Special Purposes (LSP)
- account for differing points of view on LSP
- understand the role of terminology, including terminology management
- master the principles of specialized translation

Skills to be acquired
- carry out documentary research
- design a term bank
- add records to a term base
- translate specialized texts into French

The field to be worked on is tourism.


Requirements

- read the documents supplied (see below under Bibliography)
- produce two translations
- present the results of documentary research
- produce terminology records
