Learning outcomes

The course will be held in form of a seminar, in which the students have to be actively involved in presentations of homeworks and in collective discussions. The presence at the lessons - although not compulsory - is highly reccomended.
The purpose of the seminar is to give the studentd the instruments to analyse in a wide and at the same time deep.going perspective the major dynamics of international history in the 20th century.

Program

The course of this year will deal with following topic: "The Weimar republic and the National socialist regime".
A series of 10 double introductory lectures will offer insight into the major dynamics of Germany's history in the interwar and war period, from the defeat and the birth of the republica in 1918 to the final defeat of Nazi Germany in 1945.

Obligatory reading for all students is: Gustavo Corni, Breve storia del nazismo, Bologna, Il Mulino, 2015.
Further bibliographical suggestions will be given during the course.
Lessons will begin Monday, the 22nd of February at 2 p.m. at the Department of Humanities in Trento.

Examination Methods

The exam is based on the preparation from the student of a homework (paper) on a topic previously decided in agreement with the teacher. The minimal dimension of the paper has to be 20 pages of text.
The vote given to the paper will be the final vote of the course.
