Learning outcomes
Many economic decisions require quantitative answers to quantitative questions. The module aims to provide the main econometric tools to develop, based on the available data, an empirical analysis on the relation between economic variables, and correctly interpret the results obtained. Econometric tools can be used in many economic situations (such as finance, labor economics, macroeconomics, microeconomics, marketing and political economy) as well as in social sciences (political science, sociology, health). Empirical applications in the economic and business fields will be discussed throughout the course.

Examination Methods
The exam is made of a written essay, counting for 75% of the final grade, and an individual homework, counting for 25% of the final grade.
The essay is written in class, is two hour long and covers the full program of the course.
It is possible to split the essay in two intermediate parts, each roughly covering half of the course. In this case, the essay grade is the simple average of the grades in the two intermediate essays. The first intermediate essay will be held in the middle of the first semester, while the second intermediate essay will be held in the "primo appello" in January.
Students have access to the second intermediate essay provided that they passed the first intermediate essay with a grade not lower than 16/30.
The homework is developed individually outside the class, and can be one of the following: Homework I, requiring a written review and comment of an article, and Homework II, requiring data analysis. Each student may choose either homework, but has to choose one. After the deadline for delivery of Homework II, only Homework I can be performed.

Internships
The curriculum of the three-year degree courses (CdL) and master's degree courses (CdLM) in the economics area includes an internship as a compulsory training activity. Indeed, the internship is considered an appropriate tool for acquiring professional skills and abilities and for facilitating the choice of a future professional outlet that aligns with one's expectations, aptitudes, and aspirations. The student can acquire further competencies and interpersonal skills through practical experience in a work environment.
