Learning outcomes

The course will focus on Shakespeare’s metatheatrical perspectives, by highliting on his art of performance and the actor’s use of the body. The lessons will be divided into three parts: the first part will offer a panoramic view of the Renaissance period in its historical, philosophical, economic and cultural perspectives. The second part will centre its focus on the analysis of the plays according to the theoretical approach of the first part. The third part will consider the critical texts of part B.

C) Andrew Sanders, The Short Oxford History of English Literature, (from its origins to 1642).

Examination Methods

The lessons will be in English. The exam will be an oral discussion in English on the texts in the program. Students have to prepare parts A,B.C. Students who cannot attend the lessons must get in touch with both professors.
The oral exam will start with a question on the history of English literature (part C) and will then proceed with questions on the plays by Shakespeare through the critical approach of the texts in part B.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE
