Learning outcomes

Module: METODOLOGIA DELLA RICERCA
-------
- Allowing students to read critically the literature on clinical trials, systematic and narrative reviews, guidelines and consensus conference
- Offer ground to set the stage for a clinical trial

Module: RICERCA SPERIMENTALE IN RIABILITAZIONE
-------
At the end of the course, students should have acquired basic strategies to perform a search of the literature using the common specialized search engines and not. They should have acquired the main research methods in rehabilitation with regard to different types of experimental design (single case study, RCT etc.). They should have acquired the main mode of execution of a research project and formulation of a data collection form. They will be able to transfer the data to a spreadsheet and to use simple methods of statistical analysis (graphics production, elementary analysis)

Module: DISEGNI SPERIMENTALI NELLA PRATICA CLINICA
-------
The student will develop knowledge on the different experimental design in the field of research methodology in rehabilitation.
The student will increase knowledge on the available guidelines for the implementation of the experimental designs in the field of rehabilitation research.
The student will gain knowledge on the critical review of the literature regarding the methodology section and in particular on the choice of experimental design in rehab.

In particular will be taught the following: procedures to carry out a thorough review of the scientific literature by the major search engines (PubMed, Embase, Citrix, etc); criteria for selecting the experimental design and the most appropriate assessment procedures regarding the purpose of the study; procedures for the collection of data and their organization for the purpose of statistical analysis of the data; procedures for the data processing and presentation of results by means of graphics, tables etc; ideas for writing a scientific paper.

Module: METODOLOGIA DELLA RIABILITAZIONE BASATA SU PROVE DI EFFICACIA
-------
The conceptual bases of research;
The process of clinical research: the experimental hypothesis
Evidence Based Medicine (EBM);
critical reading of a scientific paper: structure and analysis.
Research of networked information;
The main database in the medical-scientific field;
Guide to using PUBMED.
Design and writing of a research project
Literature review
Study Protocol
Methods of evaluation and treatment
Data analysis
statistical procedures: sample size, homogeneity, testing parametric and non-parametric
Methodology for the presentation of a research project

Module: DISEGNI SPERIMENTALI NELLA PRATICA CLINICA
-------
Fundamental objects for the implementation of research: PICOT
Classification and description of experimental designs in rehabilitation:
Experimental studies:
- Randomized Controlled Trials
- Cross over Studies
- Non-randomized controlled trials
Observational studies:
- Descriptive studies
