Learning outcomes

The course aims to launch the knowledge and understanding of the relationship between antiquity and modernity

Program

The Classical Heritage from the Second French Empire to the 19th Century

Visual Arts: Impressionism, Art Pompier ("Fireman Art"), the dismemberment of objects and details, ironic remembrance of the classical world according to Giò Ponti and Piero Fornasetti.
Literature: From Zola to Maupassant, D'Annunzio, and Pirandello.

It is strongly recommended for students to provide themselves with an edition of Pirandello's "Novelle per un anno" before the beginning of the course. Further bibliography will be given during classes.
