Learning outcomes

Module: STORIA DEL CRISTIANESIMO E DELLE CHIESE
-------
Students will be introduced to one or more subjects concerning both ecclesiastical and secular societies and institutions during Late Antiquity and Middle Ages, and will gain the methodological and critical tools needed to carry on a research project.

Module: STORIA MEDIEVALE
-------
The course aims to introduce students to a specific topic about the medieval society and institutions, both ecclesiastic and laic, and to provide them with the skills to carry out individual research on Middle Age history.

Program

Module: STORIA DEL CRISTIANESIMO E DELLE CHIESE
-------
First part (V. Zangara):
The western Church history took a new direction during the papacy of Leo the Great (440-461), concerning especially the primacy of Roman Church. After a general introduction about this pope, some of the most significant aspects of his papacy will be analised and critically discussed.

Module: STORIA MEDIEVALE
-------
Bishops at the end of the Middle Ages: Nicholas of Cusa bishop of Bressanone.
What did it mean to be a bishop in the late Middle Ages? What were the powers of the bishop? What kind of obstacles did he encounter? What was the distance between ideal and reality? The course will try to answer these questions. After a general introduction, we will focus on Nicholas of Cusa, a humanist who was bishop of Bressanone from 1450 to 1464, and on the bishops of Trento in the same years.

Examination Methods

Module: STORIA DEL CRISTIANESIMO E DELLE CHIESE
-------
Oral exam.

Module: STORIA MEDIEVALE
-------

Double degree

The University of Verona, through a network of agreements with foreign universities, offers international courses that enable students to gain a Double/Joint degree at the time of graduation. Indeed, students enrolled in a Double/Joint degree programme will be able to obtain both the degree of the University of Verona and the degree issued by the Partner University abroad - where they are expected to attend part of the programme -, in the time it normally takes to gain a common Master’s degree. The institutions concerned shall ensure that both degrees are recognised in the two countries.

Places on these programmes are limited, and admissions and any applicable grants are subject to applicants being selected in a specific Call for applications.

The latest Call for applications for Double/Joint Degrees at the University of Verona is available now!
