Learning outcomes

The goal of the course is to explore the instability of Latin American political systems from the late 19th century to the 21th century. This exploration does not want to isolate the politics from other two dimensions: the social question, on the one hand, and the cultural orientations, on the other.

Classes: second term

The course will be dedicated to the history of Latin America in the late nineteenth and early twenty-first century. The first lessons, nevertheless, will address three long-term assumptions about the issues, conflicts, and the "delays" of Latin America countries.
The crux of the course will investigate the problems that emerge in the South American twentieth century while undermining the ability to sustain a xenophilous cultural orientation but even more to build an inclusive and stable political system.

Double degree

The University of Verona, through a network of agreements with foreign universities, offers international courses that enable students to gain a Double/Joint degree at the time of graduation. Indeed, students enrolled in a Double/Joint degree programme will be able to obtain both the degree of the University of Verona and the degree issued by the Partner University abroad - where they are expected to attend part of the programme -, in the time it normally takes to gain a common Master’s degree. The institutions concerned shall ensure that both degrees are recognised in the two countries.

Places on these programmes are limited, and admissions and any applicable grants are subject to applicants being selected in a specific Call for applications.

The latest Call for applications for Double/Joint Degrees at the University of Verona is available now!
