Learning outcomes
Aim of the course is the cquisition of the critical and methodological intruments for the reconstruction of the theatrical events; the evaluation of the stagings of the past through a correct interpretation of the literary and iconographical sources; the analysis of the most interesting performances through a comparative standpoint the most significant stage experiences from a comparative standpoint. At the end of the course the student will be able to understaand the proposed topis with the help of the didactic material, to put these events into their correct context, to employ the specific language appropriate to the subject
Program
Contents: Romantic Theatre orm Drama to Staging
The purpose of the course is to single out the most remarkable features of Romantic aesthetics, through an analysis of drama with the help of bibliography. The course (6 credits, second semester) will examine in depth the Romantic topics explored in its first part and will evaluate their repercussions on the stage practice on the main European theatres, analysing the new acting theories, the stage technique innovations of the period, the penetration of Shakespearean drama. The course will have a seminarial character, with 1) relations by the studentes on specific topics 2)laboratory activities, with the consultation of iconographical documents concerning the stagings
