AGR/01 - AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS AND RURAL APPRAISAL

Learning outcomes

Provide students with a detailed knowledge of EU and national agricultural policy (CAP) and winemaking rules. In particular, the roules in force in Europe and the Italian implementation will be addressed. The analysis of the first and second pillars and the related spending budgets of EU Agrarian Policy.
  The wine system will be dealt with in detail with the analysis of the Common Market Organization (CMO). The objectives, the possible action measures, the relative available budgets and the repercussions on the markets will be analyzed.

The actors of agricultural and wine policy
Community agricultural policy: history, objectives and developments
Agricultural policy 2020: opportunities or constraints for the wine supply chain?
Wine policy and the common organization of the market (CMO): wine in the CMO in the single CMO (Reg. 1308/2013)
Supply control tools; quality support measures; competitiveness support measures
The measures contained in the National Support Plan. implementation and allocation of resources
Oenological practices, producer responsibility, regulatory updates
Control plan and penalty system
Scenarios of international agreements and new management tools
of international sales networks

Examination Methods

The aim of the exam will be to evaluate the student's knowledge of the agricultural and wine policy instruments and the implementation in the European Union and in Italy. The exam will be written with open questions regarding the topics covered in the classroom. Denomination of Origin manage can be asked as a business case
