Learning outcomes

Social geography and cultural geography can provide important keys to understanding the different dynamics characterizing the extreme complexity of contemporary societies. The aim of the course is to guide students in identifying elements and tools to understand issues and phenomena recognizing what the geography is still an essential discipline for effective and comprehensive interpretation of the world.
The course will be structured in two parts. In the first one will be introduced to the main concepts of human geography with particular reference to its social and cultural meanings, and in the second one will deepen the concept of symbol as a key to reading and interpreting places and ethnicities
