The course aims at presenting the evolution of French Literature from the beginning of XVIIIth century to the first half of XIXth century included. During the lessons, the main literary evolutions and canonical authors will be introduced in order to provide the literary basis and to develop student’s capacity of literary analysis on some main literary texts. Students have to know the literary evolution of the period taken into account and to show their capacity of contextualising the anthological passages presented and commented during the lessons and the primary texts. All these texts must be read in French.
Program
The course, held in French, will focus on French literature from the beginning of XVIIIth century until 1850. Lessons will be organised following a chronological criterium and will take into account the main authors and literary movements of the period. All these texts, which are paradigmatical of differents periods and genres, must be read in French. Students who can’t attend the lessons are invited to contact the professor and should read all primary texts in the adviced editions, whose préface/introduction is part of their bibliographical program.
