Learning outcomes
This course is delivered by e-learning mode. It is dedicated to first year students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene who have reported a knowledge deficit in Biology in the National access test. The goal is to fill the knowledge gap and to enable these students to understand the curricular Biology course and to face up to the final exam.

The macromolecules of life. Prokaryotic cell. Eukaryotic cell.
Cell membrane, organelles. Cell-cell communications.
Cell cycle, mitosis, chromosomes. Meiosis ans sexual re production. Cell death.
Molecular bases of heredity: the informational flow from DNA to proteins. Regulation of gene expression.
Chromosomal bases of heredity: Mendel’s laws and the definition of “gene”.

Examination Methods
Students will organize their recovery process autonomously. The e-learning course includes five self checks in itinere (multiple choice quizzes) A final verification (written test consisting of 20 MCQ) will take place in the presence of the teacher. A positive score (idoneo) will be a pre-requisite for partecipation to the curricular Biological Fundamentals of Life exam.
