COURSE DESCRIPTION
Democracy and market society.
Re-reading Karl Polanyi's "The great transformation: the political and economic origins of our time".
Starting from an introduction to the history of political thought (Aristotle, Hobbes, Locke, Smith, Marx), the course will discuss Karl Polany's "The great transformation: the political and economic origins of our time", particularly referring to contemporary debate on the crises of politics and democracy.
