Learning outcomes

A) THEORY

- Knowledge and understanding of the bio-psycho-social roots of the individual needs

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
The course is centered on providing students with the knowledge necessary to professionally project and conduct social work interventions. Particular attention will be given to the methodological features of the support process and the needs assessment as well as the targets setting aspects will be explored more in detail.

- Recognizing, respecting and promoting the main objectives of professional social work.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
The course aims to introduce the student to the core knowledge, skills, ethics and values underpinning social work, both as a discipline and as a profession. The course aims to analyse the historical development of social work and illustrate its philosophical foundations. The course also guides the student as to the context of the values and theories that constitute the basis upon which the scientific and methodological structure of social work is based. By the end of the course, the student should be able to demonstrate knowledge of the nature, aims, theories, and values of social work. The student will also be able to place social work in its historical context and the wider welfare system.
