Period

II semestre (Lingue e letterature straniere) dal Feb 17, 2020 al May 30, 2020.

Learning outcomes

The module, taught in English, aims at providing the stu-dents with interpretive skills and in-depth knowledge re-lated to the main themes and theoretical issues that qualify colonial and postcolonial literature in English.
This will be done through a close reading of the set texts, chosen for their representative force and analyzed in their textual dynamics, in a wide diachronic perspective that, nonetheless, fully takes into account the specifics of their contexts.The broader gaol is to stimulate the students to develop their competence in critically approaching the texts and the historical, political and cultural dynamics underlying them.

At the end of the module the students will be able to:
-read and interpret postcolonial literary texts by structuring ideas and concepts with argumentative skill;
-comment on the texts in such a way as to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the theoretical debate sur-rounding them.

Program

WRITING MIGRATION

The module will provide the students with the opportunity to engage in close reading, interpretation, and discussion of two postcolonial texts crucially involving the issue of migration and its thematic inflections (identity, belonging, racism, nation/border).
First part of the module taught by prof. Susanna Zinato, second part by prof. Annalisa Pes

Double degree

The University of Verona, through a network of agreements with foreign universities, offers international courses that enable students to gain a Double/Joint degree at the time of graduation. Indeed, students enrolled in a Double/Joint degree programme will be able to obtain both the degree of the University of Verona and the degree issued by the Partner University abroad - where they are expected to attend part of the programme -, in the time it normally takes to gain a common Master’s degree. The institutions concerned shall ensure that both degrees are recognised in the two countries.

Places on these programmes are limited, and admissions and any applicable grants are subject to applicants being selected in a specific Call for applications.

The latest Call for applications for Double/Joint Degrees at the University of Verona is available now!

Stage e tirocini
