Learning outcomes

1ST MODULE
The first form is proposed to develop student’s theoretical-critical knoledge about the social psychology. The historical-conceptual development of the discipline, its definition and in particular social psychology researches will be fully showed and explained. Subject matter related to the perception of himself, the social perception, dynamics related to the social influence with a particular attention on the conformism and on the couple and group’s interactions will be thorough.
At the end of the form the student should know the establishing aspects of the discipline and how to read with a psychosocial look examining the main dynamics that regulate the social operation.

2ND MODULE
The second form is proposed to develop student’s theoretical-critical knowledge about the social psychology foundations with a particular reference to some disciplinary thematic application areas. The aim is to develop the ability of the students in reading the social situations and the collective events giving some clues.
The form’s objective is to develop a critical reading of the contents, of the approaches and of the psychosocial theories in social relationships contexts as, for example, the persuasion, the prejudice, the intergroup relationships and the conflicts.
At the end of the form the student should be able to use some theoretical aspects from the reading and to apply them to explain some phenomena.

II MODULO
Contenuti del corso - Communication and persuasion - Groups and group interactions - Forms and sources of prejudice - Intergroup dynamics: conflict and conflict resolution – Aggression - Pro-social behaviour - Psychology and Communication
Course method: Frontal lectures- during the course materials will be discussed with students in order to stimulate connections between theories and realy life experiences.

Examination Methods

The exam “Social Psychology” will be one (Mod 1+Mod2).
The exam will be written and it will include multiple-choice and open-ended questions. For this type of questions the evaluation criteria include: relevance and richness of arguments and use of an appropriate language. The grades of the two modules will be added to obtain the final grade for the course “Social Psychology” (30 point scale).
The assessment methods and criteria will be the same for attending and non-attending students.
The exam will include the following materials: slides presented during the course and the materials provided in the reference section.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, and in accordance with the University of Verona guidelines, during ​the 2020 summer session the assessment modality will be modified as follows online written exam.
