Learning outcomes
This course will outline the main epistemological, metaphysical, social, and ethical issues related to biology. The course material will be historically contextualized from Lamarck to present day. On attending this course, the student will be able to recognize the key moments of the history of biology, to analyze and properly deploy the discipline's central concepts, to compare the standards of scientific conduct, to distinguish and assess the problems of bioethics, to plan and compose an argumentative text.
Program
The course is divided up into two moduli devoted to the foundations of logic and to scientific discourse respectively. The first module is divided into two parts. The first part, constituted by the first 4 lectures, explores the fundamental concepts of the theory of argumentation and introduces students to the organization of an argumentative text. The second part, covering 6 lectures, deals with the pedagogical and formative value of critical thinking and its implementation in the educative paths of primary school.
