1) familiarize the students with the basic notions of identity as a sociocultural construct and how identity may be formed by means of language interaction and vice versa;
2) consider the relationship between identity, agency and the English language learner;
3) consider the ways in which agency can contribute to success, or lack of it, as a language learner.
