Learning outcomes

Aim of the course is transmitting fundamental knowledge on Italian language and its variability: oral and written Language, specific scientific Languages, different textual typologies. Textual competence and abilities on writing will be improved by practice of analysis and production. Student will be able to recognize variability of Italian Language in time, space, medium, context and register, also in relation to learning of foreigner languages; moreover, student will be able to analyze texts in Italian Language and assing them to different textual typologies.

Program

1. Elements of Italian linguistic: varieties and norm; elements of verbal communication; pragmatics; specific scientific languages and their linguistic registers.
2. Writing: elements of textual linguistics; coherence and cohesion; text types.
3. Elements of Italian grammar: connectives, punctuation.
4. Text analysis and exercises: summary, e-mail.

Slides, exercises and bibliographical supplements will be posted on the E-learning dashboard.

Nota bene. Students must attend the class they are assigned to, according to the first letter of their surname (A-E, F-O, or P-Z). Passages from a class to another are not allowed. This apply also to the final exam.

Examination Methods

Written examination. Production of short texts concerning the different text types analyzed. Resolution of questions. Aim of the examination is verifying knowledges, competences and abilities about written language and basic knowledge of Italian and textual linguistics.

Attending and non-attending students will take the same exam.
