Learning outcomes
Teaching modality: Interactive teaching modalities using surgical videos and dry lab activities.
Purpose: The course is organized in 6 lessons. The course aim is to demonstrate and teach the principles of minimally invasive surgery and its application in abdominal surgery. The topics will be focused on laparoscopic and robot-assisted surgery together with the presentation of new technologies and techniques. The bases of minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of gastrointestinal, hepatic and abdominal wall diseases will be discussed. Dry lab with practical activities will be organized
Program
1. Advantages and limits of minimally invasive techniques (laparoscopic and robot-assisted surgery). Description of minimally invasive techniques. Dry-lab (i.e. 2D vision, trocars, instruments)
2. Principles of minimally invasive techniques. Dry-lab (i.e. knotting and suturing)
3. Laparoscopic treatment in abdominal surgery (i.e. cholecystectomy, appendectomy, abdominal hernia repair)
4. Laparoscopic treatment for upper gastrointestinal diseases (videos and dry-lab)
5. Laparoscopic and robot-assisted treatment for liver diseases (videos and dry-lab)
6. Laparoscopic and robot-assisted treatment for colorectal (videos and dry-lab)
