The teaching is organized as follows:

Learning outcomes

The teaching aims to make understand the basic aspects that characterize the radiological environment. Specifically, it addresses in a sequential and thorough way the structure and the various types of fixed and mobile radiological systems, the elements of the electrical safety of medical equipment, the principles of production and evaluation of the radiological image quality and at the same time management, transmission of clinical / diagnostic data in hospital information systems with specific reference to radiological departments. RADIODIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT AND QUALITY CONTROLS The course aim is to let students know: - x-ray equipment structure - technical and functional connections - medical electrical equipment safety - fixed and mobile equipment types PHYSICAL AND GEOMETRICAL PRINCIPLES OF X-RAY IMAGE FORMATION The course aims to help students understand: • the use of x-rays in producing diagnostic images; • geometric factors in Radiology; • x-beam modulation parameters and the main devices influencing the formation of radiographic image; • the concept of radiographic image quality; • the main correlations and differences between traditional and digital radiographic image. RADIOLOGICAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS, PROCESSING AND STORAGE OF IMAGES Learn the functions of an Hospital Information System (HIS) and clinical data management. Peculiarities of the complex Radiology field.

Information Systems and information flows. The ospital enterprise. Digital signature and conservation of signed documents. Personal data handling and data security. Holder, Responsible, Appointee of data handling. Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). Changing Radiology: filmless and paperless. Integration of clinical information systems: HL7 and DICOM standards. IHE profiles and Tachincal Framework. XDS profile: registry and repository in enterprises. Radiological system administrator. "Bologna" case. Telemedicine and regional projects in Veneto. Regional Electronic Health Record (EHR). Lectures include the use of slides of the teaching material. Students are then asked to discuss the application of the contents to real cases detected in Radiology, evaluating hospital consequences and repercussions.

Examination Methods

MM: PRESUPPOSTI FISICO-GEOMETRICI ALLA FORMAZIONE DELL'IMMAGINE RADIOLOGICA
------------------------
Written exam concerning the entire course consists of 10 open questions to meet in 90 minutes. In particular, 4 questions are proposed for the module "Radiological Information Systems, processing and archiving of images," 3 questions for the module of"Physical-geometric assumptions for radiological imaging" and 3 questions for the module “Radiodiagnostic equipment and quality control". The questions for each module are assessed by a vote of thirty by the specific teacher. The Teaching Coordinator verbalizes the average grade resulting from the votes held by each module to the following rules: - The test is considered passed if the average of the marks obtained in 3 modules is equal to or greater than 18/30; - The minimum rating of each module that helps to determine the overall average rating for the course is 16/30; - If the vote of a module is less than 16/30, the student is required to repeat the whole exam; - A student who achieves an overall average rating in the script at or greater than 25/30 may request an oral interview to supplement the evaluation.

Written exam with open questions and optional oral exam. Questions have two purposes: - evaluate the learning of basic subjects - evaluate the understanding of the topics in a complex health context, where the IT actions performed in Radiology have repercussions on other hospital information systems.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE
