Learning outcomes
The course is aimed to the learning of the Nordic Walking technique and of the teaching methods. The course will give the possibility to deepen the knowledge of the different aspect of Nordic Walking with particular attention to the biomechanical and physiological peculiarity with respect to conventional walking. The student will acquire the theoretical basis and the practical tools to organize, observe and evaluate exercise programs based on Nordic Walking for elderly or pathological subjects. During the lessons, the student will learn the fundamental elements of the Nordic Walking technique and the skill to teach and judge the correct execution. The positive assessments of the technique reached by the student at the final exam will give the possibility to obtain the ANWI_INWA license for second level instructor, after the subscription to the ANWI association.
Program
The course is organized in frontal and practical lessons. Eight hours will be devoted to the analysis of the scientific basis of the benefit of Nordic Walking, with reference to the scientific studies investigating the peculiarity of Nordic Walking with respect to walking and other exercise. Special attention will be devoted to the application to overweight, diabetic, elderly and pathological subjects. Twelve hours during the practical part will be devoted to the learning of the fundamentals of the execution and teaching of Nordic Walking. In case of impossibility due to the health emergency to organize the practical lessons, the activity will be replaced by videos illustrating the technique and corrective interventions.
The remaining hours will be devoted to trial and measurement sessions, and to familiarization with the observational strategies and evaluation methods.

Examination Methods
*mandatory attendance of a least 75% of the classes (students interesting in getting the patent issued by ANWI are required to attend 100% of the 12 h of NW technique).
The students are required to send, at least one week before the examination date:
• A short document with the description of a project of physical activity addressed to a special population, analyzing the peculiarity, the benefits and possible problems of Nordic Walking
A part of the examination will be devoted to discussion of the documents sent by the student. During the practical part of the examination, the technical skills reached by the students and its ability in detecting technical errors and in suggesting intervention for the correction will be also evaluated.
In case of variations, due to the health emergency, of the in-attendance activities, the examination methods may undergo slight changes that will be communicated to the students.

Internships
Internships are aimed at enabling students to gain direct knowledge of the world of work and to acquire specific professional skills.
Internships are carried out under the responsibility of an individual lecturer, and can be carried out in professional firms, public administration bodies and companies recognised by the University of Verona.
Any CFU credits gained by doing internships will be recognised and recorded by the University in accordance with the relevant University regulations in force (Regolamento d’Ateneo per il riconoscimento dei crediti maturati negli stage universitari).

Competenze linguistiche
DOPO LA LAUREA TRIENNALE
Per proseguire gli studi in uno dei corsi di Laurea Magistrale dell'ambito delle Scienze motorie è necessario possedere competenze linguistiche almeno di livello B1 informatizzato (o superiore) specificamente di lingua inglese, poichè i corsi di studio di livello superiore prevedono nel proprio piano didattico la presenza di insegnamenti o di moduli impartiti dai docenti direttamente in inglese.
Inoltre, tali competenze costituiscono requisito di accesso indispensabile per poter partecipare alla prova di ìngresso oppure per iscriversi ad una laurea magistrale.
La conoscenza di altre lingue diverse dall'Inglese NON può venire riconosciuta come "requisito" utile per l'accesso ai corsi di laurea magistrale. Tuttavia, la certificazione posseduta potrà essere valutata da un'apposita Commissione di docenti ed eventualmente riconosciuta in termini di crediti (CFU) a scelta dello studente, presentando domanda al momento dell'immatricolazione.
