Learning outcomes

The course aims to help medical students to understand the interaction between behaviors, motivational and psycho-biological aspects in conditions of particular vulnerability, such as cryonicity (specifically, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, post-stroke, elderly with fatigue ) or conditions of potential social hardship (e.g. migrants), with the aim to find strategies to prevent the development or progression of disease, where present, and to identify actions and strategies useful for increasing the well-being and quality of life of those patients /users.

Program

There are six meetings of two hours each, for a total of 12 hours, according to the following program:
3 March 2022. Prof.ssa Del Piccolo, Prof. Schena, Dott.ssa Vitali, Dott.ssa Mason. General presentation of the factors connected to the interaction between behaviors, motivational and psycho-biological aspects. Models and interventions in the light of current research.

10 March 2022. Prof.ssa Romanelli, Prof. Venturelli. Presentation of an intervention aimed at evaluating the biological and neurophysiological factors associated with the conditions of physical and cognitive frailty in a cohort of elderly individuals, investigating the association between neurophysiological characteristics, resilience and everyday life behaviors, to develop a personalized intervention for successful aging.

17 March 2022. Dott.ssa Purgato, Prof. Barbui. Presentation of a physical activity program aimed at improving the quality of life in asylum seekers and refugees resettled in Verona.

24 March 2022. Prof.ssa Rimondini, Dott. Gajofatto. Presentation of an intervention model that favors the development of psychological and physical resilience in young patients with multiple sclerosis.

31 March 2022. Prof. Tinazzi, Dott.ssa Di Vico. Presentation of an intervention on patients with Parkinson's disease aimed at identifying and strengthening the most effective strategies in the treatment of fatigue in these patients, aimed at improving their well-being.

7 April 2022. Prof. Smania, Prof. Picelli, Dott. Filippetti. Presentation of an innovative rehabilitation protocol based on self-management for the long-term care of the patient with cerebral stroke.
