Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding:
1. Knowing and understanding the conceptual, methodological, and cultural bases to promote a phenomenologically orientated research on the theory of affective experience; 2. Knowing and comprehending the importance of affective experience for a philosophy understood as exercise of transformation; 3. Knowing and understanding the meaning of emotional sharing for the care relationship and for the formation process of person.
Applying knowledge and understanding:
1. Knowing how to reread and interpret the process of formation of the person in the perspective of a philosophy of affects; 2. Knowing how to interpret the problem of emotional experience in the contemporary cultural and social context; 3. Knowing how to rethink the meaning and motivations of educational and pedagogical practice in the light of affective experience.
Program
The course title: Philosophy as an exercise in transformation and the theory of exemplarity
The course aims to take back to a philosophy understood as an exercise in transformation and develop it further, starting from Socrates’ maieutic tradition and focusing especially on the exemplarity of the other and its function in the formation process of the singularity. Subsequently, the course will tackle the thesis of the mother’s exemplarity, considering Spitz’s research on the affective deprivation of children in institutionalized settings.

Students are invited to contact the lecturer to discuss any doubts, queries or questions concerning their preparation for the examination.

Examination Methods
To pass the exam, students have to demonstrate that they possess 1) deep knowledge of the main specific issues dealt with during the course and 2) the capacity to give an independent reflection on theoretical implications of those issues, using a language pertinent and appropriate to them.
There will be an oral examination. The examination is based on the recorded lectures and two texts of the student’s choice. The student can also take the examination by discussing a written paper as a writing exercise, especially if there is a specific interest or motivation. The topic of the paper must be agreed upon in advance with the lecturer during his office hours. The thesis (about 20,000 characters) must be delivered by e-mail seven days before the examination date. The file, in Word format, should be titled with the student’s SURNAME, NAME, TITLE OF THE COURSE. The paper should be thought of as a logically ordered list of the passages from the reference texts which impressed mostly or aroused interest. The own comments and the quotations should not be confused, so the latter should be placed in quotation marks along with the page numbers. The final part of the paper should be devoted to a short chapter on “Personal Reflection” (a couple of pages) in which the student can refer to her/his own experience or other texts.

Practical information for students
Stage e Tirocini
Per le altre attività formative (crediti F) sono previsti 9 cfu (pari a 225 ore) da acquisire solamente attraverso l’attività di tirocinio obbligatoria, a sua volta suddivisa in:- tirocinio indiretto (1 cfu: 25 ore di frequenza obbligatoria in università per il 75%) in preparazione dell’attività formativa sul campo;
- tirocinio diretto (8 cfu), da svolgersi presso enti convenzionati.
Il tirocinio indiretto consiste in un accompagnamento iniziale delle/degli studenti da parte dei tutor attraverso un percorso di formazione della durata di 25 ore.
La finalità di questo percorso è quella di preparare le/gli studenti alla particolare forma di apprendimento costituita dal tirocinio, dotandoli di conoscenze e strumenti adeguati a osservare, comprendere e rielaborare criticamente l’esperienza di tirocinio nei servizi educativi e ad affrontare il tirocinio negli enti con metodo e consapevolezza.
Il percorso, da attuare in gruppi da 20-25 persone sotto la supervisione di un tutor proveniente dal mondo professionale di educatori e pedagogisti, risponde alle esigenze costantemente espresse sia dalle/dagli studenti stessi sia dalle parti sociali che dai referenti degli enti convenzionati.
