Learning objectives
This course aims to introduce students to the knowledge of modern and contemporary Italian literature, considered in its relationships with Italian national history and society. During lessons we read significant works by Italian authors and we critically analyze the texts, in order to highlight the peculiar characteristics of literary expression within the framework of the communication system. On successful completion of the module, students should be able to read and comment, from a historical-critical point of view, the works examined and to recognize the main characteristics of the literary text in its expressive and communicative articulations.
Prerequisites and basic notions
Students must be able to speak the Italian language correctly.

The Italian literature in the second half of the 20th century. Story of two young writers: Beppe Fenoglio and Italo Calvino

Didactic methods
Lectures (36 hours)
For attending students, the teaching methods consist of lectures and seminar exercises around the theme of the course. In the classroom the intervention of students will be encouraged, in particular through the hours of laboratory teaching dedicated to the in-depth reading of the texts.
The teacher will publish on the e-learning platform, used for active communication with students, the analytical list of all the topics that will be the subject of the exam, with the relative bibliography. Furthermore, throughout the academic year, the individual reception service managed by the teacher is available, at the times indicated on the web pages and constantly updated.
For non-attending students, the teaching methods consist of supporting the teacher in the personal study of the texts. Non-attending students must contact the teacher, during office hours, from the start of the lessons.
Learning assessment procedures
Oral examination about all the parts of the course. The examination aims at evaluating the student's knowledge and skills, with special reference to the texts read during lessons.
Erasmus students will be informed about the oral examination during lessons or student office hours.
Evaluation criteria
Objectives of the oral exam:
verify the analytical knowledge of the topics of the program.
• verify the ability to reflect and elaborate around some problematic points
• verify the critical skills acquired in the analysis of texts.
