General and inorganic chemistry (2022/2023)
The teaching is organized as follows:
Learning objectives
1. General and inorganic chemistry: The course will provide the student with the basis of the General Chemistry and some basics of Inorganic Chemistry. Models and general concepts as means of justification and prediction of physical and chemical properties of systems of increasing degree of complexity (atoms, molecules, substances, multi-component systems) will be illustrated and discussed. Concepts and methods for predicting qualitative and quantitative changes of intensive and extensive properties of evolving chemical systems will be also considered.
2. General Chemistry Laboratory: The course will foresee to carry out laboratory experiences to provide the required skills to properly work in a common scientific laboratory both in academic and company environments.
The student will acquire the necessary knowledge to use common equipment of a chemistry laboratory, as well as manual skills to work independently and in safety. The student will apply the knowledge gained during the theoretical course to the solution, under the teacher’s supervision, of exercises and problems of practical interest, which usually need to be addressed during the work in a company.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade
The final grade will result from the evaluation of the learning of the theoretical part and from the learning of laboratory experiences.
