Learning objectives
The activity included in the laboratory will focus on analysis and use of observational methods for research and projecting interventions for infants and toddlers, referring to linguistic, cognitive, and socio-emotional development.
Prerequisites and basic notions
Basic knowledge of the developmental processes and observational methods presented at the TOCI course.
Program
The Laboratory offers the opportunity to experiment and deepen the theoretical and instrumental knowledge acquired during the lessons of ‘Observing child behavior: Theories and techniques’. In particular, the students will be assisted in developing an observation project ̶ from the definition of the main aim to the processing of the collected data ̶ spendable in an educational context of the participants' interest (e.g., Nursery school, services for infants/children and their families, residential communities for minors, etc.).

Didactic methods
The lab activities are structured in both plenary sessions and small group sessions. The work in progress within the different groups will be constantly supervised by lab tutors, and reported and discussed in intermediate and final plenary sessions.
Learning assessment procedures
The activity included in the laboratory will result into the production of a project.
Evaluation criteria
The project will be evaluated according to methodological accuracy and to the use of observational methods and indices.
Criteria for the composition of the final grade
The final evaluation will include methodological accuracy (50%) and the use of observational methods (50%).
