Learning objectives
The general aim of the course is to provide the basic knowledge and methodological tools to understand the child's main developmental processes (physical, motor, perceptual, cognitive, emotional, social, and linguistic). The specific objectives of the course are to succeed in framing the key concepts of developmental psychology into motor and sports education. Recent findings from the scientific international literature will be presented and discussed.

The course has no specific prerequisites.
Program
The course will focus on the development of cognitive functions, with particular reference to the main theories of development, the most commonly used investigation methods and the implications for sport, physical performance and preventive and adapted physical activity. The course will also briefly mention some of the most frequently encountered disorders in developmental age (eg, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder).

Didactic methods
The course consists of frontal lectures, for a total of 18 hours (3 CFU). In-depth materials will be provided on the University e-learning platform. The student reception service is available throughout the academic year, on a fixed weekly basis.
Learning assessment procedures
The exam consists of one written test with 31 closed questions and multiple choice answers. The written test is intended to ensure knowledge and understanding of the topics addressed in the course and covers all the topics discussed during the lessons. The ranking of the written test will be expressed in scores of thirty.
Additional information: It is not possible to attend the exam in advance. Only those students who have this teaching in their academic career and are regularly registered to the call, can attend the exam.
Evaluation criteria
The aim of the test is to ascertain the knowledge and understanding of all the topics included in the program and covered in class. The mark of the written test will be expressed in 30ths. Each correct answer will be awarded 1 point. Errors and answers not given will be awarded a score of 0. Passing the exam requires the achievement of the threshold of 18 points.
Criteria for the composition of the final grade
The mark of the written test will derive from the sum of the scores obtained in each answer.
