Public Engagement and dissemination in Science – tips for ethical citizen involvement in research in Neuroscience, Psychological and Psychiatric Science and Movement Science
Programma
The course aims to provide basic skills and to foster greater awareness of the importance of involving the non-academic world (the community, patients, the general public) in scientific methodology and reasoning. The PhD students will learn strategies for involving these groups both in the research process and in the dissemination of scientific results (public engagement). First, fundamental concepts, such as participatory research and citizen science will be explained, emphasizing the value of co-creation. Furthermore, the characteristics of adequate dissemination and the main underlying rules will be discussed The course includes both a theoretical part and active interaction/participation of PhD students. The course takes place in a 2-hour group meeting, in presence or as a video conference (to be defined).
