Learning objectives
The seminar is aimed at familiarizing PhD students with several aspects related to scientific writing, including the different components of a research article, how to evaluate its consistency and rigor, how to analyse the argumentative structure of a research article and its internal consistency, and how to identify the elements that help produce a quality research paper.
Prerequisites and basic notions
The seminar can be attended by second year PhD students.
Program
The writing process of the various types of scientific publications will be considered; the salient points of a few selected articles and their organization will be analyzed. Critical aspects of the submission and peer review process will be discussed.
Didactic methods
Good practices and fundamental issues in academic writing will be discussed through exercises in small groups, peer-tutoring and individual exercises.

The individual learning and basic knowledge will be verified through exercises in small group and discussion.
