Learning objectives
The course falls within the area of learning Innovation and management of the Public Administration. It illustrates the instruments and methodologies of EU project management, providing students with the knowledge required to submit project proposals for EU funding. Following an introduction to EU funding programmes from an institutional and policy perspective, specific attention will be devoted to direct and indirect funds, as well as to techniques and strategies for drafting proposals and managing EU projects.
At the end of the course, the student will acquire job-oriented competences that are necessary to familiarise with EU project management in order to develop project proposals and follow the subsequent realisation.
The student will be able to address and solve actual issues arising from the professional context in which he/she is going to operate, focusing his/her competences on the contractual compliance and the methods of alternative dispute resolution. The student will be able to verify the practical implications of the legal and regulatory framework, as well as to solve practical cases, in both oral and written forms and also through team-work experiences, written-based exercises and the application of the method of Problem Based Solving (PBS), using an appropriate and specific vocabulary, developing proper reasoning and argumentation and reaching independent judgement. The teaching methodology is instrumental to continuous learning and knowledge updating.
Prerequisites and basic notions
Please refer to your study programme.
Program
The course is aimed at analysing the European funding programmes and their functioning, taking into account the structure of the Union budget, the priorities determined by the European Commission and the various European funds. It then addresses the different phases of project management, from design to implementation, on the basis of the reference documents and practical cases, such as: search for EU funding and calls and useful resources, identification of topics, formation of the research team, identification of partners, preparation of the project proposal, analysis of relevant documentation, elaboration of the project idea, from objectives to actions, drafting of documents, project development and implementation of activities, cooperation with partners, relations with the project officer, hints on accounting, reporting and monitoring of the use of the funds.
