Learning objectives

Knowledge and understanding Module 1: Literature for early childhood 1. To know the didactic, educational and cultural functions of early childhood literature. 2. To Understand the cultural, educational, didactic and goals of children's literature in a perspective of educational continuity between early childhood and the subsequent stages of children's lives. 3. To Know and understand what are the content and stylistic elements that characterize the best national and international production of texts for early childhood. Module 2: Laboratory of Literature for Early Childhood 1. To know and understand the different methodological possibilities to propose literary texts for early childhood. 2. To know and understand the importance of educational and educational functions for children of all ages, who are connected to the practice of reading aloud. Applying knowledge and understanding Module 1: Literature for early childhood 1. Knowing how to relate theoretical and methodological knowledge to teaching activities with children. 2. To use the theories and methods learned; formulate projects and educational interventions in a perspective of continuity. 3. To recognize and analyze quality literary texts, according to well-defined scientific criteria, valid not only in the context of early childhood but also in later childhood contexts, in a perspective of educational continuity. Module 2: Laboratory of Literature for Early Childhood 1. To perform reading aloud in a diversified way in relation to the different types of literary texts. 2. To choose the most appropriate methodology to propose to children of early childhood the different types of narrative texts, always having a unified vision and continuity with the successive phases of childhood ages.

Prerequisites and basic notions

Basic knowledge: A) Children’s History; Pedagogy and School History; B) Pedagogy; C) Developmental Psychology; D) Literature; E) general knowledge about Art, History and Society.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

The final grade corresponds to the weighted average of the grades received in the written examination and in the workshop.
PLEASE NOTE: Attendance is needed for the workshop.
