Learning objectives
The course aims to provide the student with technical-practical, relational, problem-solving and organizational skills in safe setting, before clinical practice in clinical environment with patients, in order to reduce the emotional impact that comes from real situations and guarantee ethicality and safety to patients. For these reasons this course represents a prerequisite for the clinical practice. It also offers to student the opportunity to train himself in applying the theoretical principles to practice situations. The main skills of the first year of the Bachelor Degree are: measuring vital parameters, hand hygiene, choice and use of personal protective equipment (PPE), setting up a sterile field, staging and treatment of a pressure injury , take care of the person's body, apply the principles of ergonomics, carry out the person's positioning / transfer and assisted positioning maneuvers, assessment skills and objective examination.

Program
HYGIENE AND INFECTION PREVENTION IN CARE CONTEXTS: - infection control during care and the principles of waste disposal and reconditioning of equipment - hand hygiene -- putting on and taking off sterile gloves (DM) demonstrating the choice of gloves of the appropriate size, wear gloves without touching their external surface, remove gloves avoiding contact between the skin of the hands and the external surface of the glove - put on and remove multiple PPE according to procedure (ECDC 2020 guidelines) THE METHODS OF ASSESSMENT: INTERVIEW, OBSERVATION AND OBJECTIVE EXAMINATION •identifies and discusses ways to carry out the initial interview in a structured way, recognizing the phases of the interview and identifying the important data to be collected •carry out objective examination using the dummy and practicing with peers Apply knowledge and use guidelines on the staging and treatment of pressure ulcers • recognize the degree of skin lesion through the use of images • discuss the intrinsic and extrinsic factors and the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the formation of pressure ulcers through the use of cases clinical • identify the type of dressing
PLACE AN INDENT BLADDER CATHETER - Simulate the positioning of an indwelling bladder catheter on a dummy, _ sterile field management
VENOUS and CAPILLARY SAMPLING recognize and prepare the material for venipuncture carry out the venipuncture: applying the tourniquet ( respecting the methods and times of residence) and managing the order and the filling method of the tubes, carry out the capillary sampling, respecting the safety steps foreseen by the procedure: identify and evaluate the correct site, correctly prepare the snap injector, carry out the compression (avoiding touching the puncture point) and placing the drop of blood in the appropriate space indicated on the reagent strip (without swiping it) carry out a safe sampling: respect the principles of asepsis and antisepsis, using barrier systems, carrying out disposal priority and needle safety
