Learning objectives

Providing knowledge regarding human anatomy, histology, and physiology.
HISTOLOGY: This course aims to teach students about the morphological and structural organization of cells and tissues, as well as the development of the human embryo. By the end of the course, students should be able to: 1)Recognize and describe the structure of cells, identifying the specific function of each component; 2) Understand the concept of cellular differentiation and relate the morphological and structural differences among various cell types to their respective functional activities; 3)Recognize and describe the main tissues of the human body, emphasizing the functional significance of each observed morphological aspect.
ANATOMY: This module focuses on developing the ability to describe the structural organization of the human body in healthy conditions, using correct terminology, and understanding the immediate relationships between structure and function, with a particular focus on the locomotor system. Students will gain an understanding of the functional and topographic anatomy of all regions of the musculoskeletal system, learning to recognize and correctly name the various structures identifiable through observation and palpation, and to describe their main functions.
GENERAL PHYSIOLOGY-NERVOUS SYSTEM-MOTOR SYSTEMS: This module provides foundational knowledge of human physiology, focusing on both general physiology and the nervous system. Students will learn about the functions of different organs based on the physiology of their cells, the integration of these organs into the overall functioning of the cardiovascular, respiratory, excretory, and digestive systems, and the primary regulatory mechanisms (both nervous and humoral) that control organ and system functions. Additionally, the module covers the basic anatomy of the nervous system, the mechanisms behind nerve cell excitability and synaptic transmission, and the sensory systems (including somatosensation and pain, chemical senses, vision, hearing, and balance). Students will integrate their understanding of nervous signalling and regulatory mechanisms with endocrine system mechanisms.
PSYCHOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS:
Gain a comprehensive understanding of the key theories on the development of the mind, cognitive abilities, and human relationships. Explore the mechanisms through which humans adapt to and interact with their environment and examine how these processes influence behaviour across diverse contexts.
