Learning objectives

The goal of the course is to teach the main aspects of the geographical theoretical framework, from a epistemological, conceptual and methodological point of view. The course concerns the key elements of geography that are necessary to create the teaching practices. The course intends to give elements useful to plan and act efficient teaching strategies for geography in the primary and pre-primary school.

- The geographical concepts: environment, nature, landscape, place, space, territory, region

Module B - Didactics- Geography, geography education, geography didactics
- The educational and training value of geographical knowledge
- Geography curricula in legal provisions
- The didactic design of geographical knowledge
- The didactic use of tools and sources of/for geography (film, literature, music etc.)

Didactic methods

In-person and interactive lectures, seminars, group activities and tutorials.

Learning assessment procedures

The examination will consist of a written test with open questions.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

The assessment criteria will concern: knowledge of the main concepts of human geography, the ability to apply them to known territorial realities, the ability to devise teaching activities to transmit geographical concepts to pre-school and primary school pupils. The assessment is in thirtieths. In addition to the course content, clarity of presentation and mastery of geographical terminology will also be assessed.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

The written test on fundamentals and didactics of geography and the participation in and outcome of laboratory activities are taken into account for the final assessment.
