Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Learning outcomes
I principali obbiettivi formativi del corso di Biotecnologie dei microrganismi sono quelli di fornire nozioni di base in materia di microbiologia applicata:
1. al trattamento delle acque di scarico domestiche
2. alla biodegradazione di composti xenobiotici
Verranno approfonditi gli aspetti più importanti di queste discipline, attraverso la trattazione di argomenti specifici allo scopo di improntare in modo specialistico il Corso.

1. Cenni sul metabolismo dei microrganismi. Classificazione dei microrganismi su base metabolica
2. Ruolo dei microrganismi nei cicli biogeochimici. Il ciclo dell’azoto, del fosforo e dello zolfo con riferimento al trattamento delle acque di scarico
3. Microbiologia del trattamento delle acque di scarico. I parametri BOD, COD, NOD, TOD. I microrganismi indicatori di inquinamento delle acque. Microbiologia dei fanghi attivi. La biologia dei fanghi attivi. Compostaggio. Digestione aerobica e anaerobica. La microbiologia nei sistemi di distribuzione delle acque potabili. Medodi convenzionali e avanzati di monitoraggio microbiologico delle acque di scarico e potabili
4. La biodegradazione microbica dei composti xenobiotici. Fattori ambientali, edafici e biotici che influenzano l’attività di biodegradazione microbica. Aspetti genetici e metabolici della biodegradazione microbica. I plasmidi catabolici
Examination Methods
La valutazione dello studente verrà effettuata attraverso un colloquio nel quale si tratteranno tutti gli argomenti oggetto del Corso.
