The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Learning objectives
The course aims at providing the conceptual, methodological and cultural framework to analyze and interpret the aesthetic issues related to contemporary art world. It is about analyzing contemporary aesthetic reflection, in order to understand the theoretical issues related to the practice and interpretation of contemporary arts in a more articulated way. Specific knowledge will be transmitted (interpretative theories and artistic practices in the history of the Western aesthetic tradition) which are subsequently applied to specific problems (of perception in general and to particular art works). The multisensory, multi-modal, multimedia character of contemporary artistic production will be emphasized, en-hancing the intertwining of art forms and philosophical reflections on them. At the end of the course, the student will have developed the ability to analyze and understand the fundamental philosophical texts of contemporary aesthetics, orienting the judgment on ar-tistic production, problematizing its most relevant theoretical aspects.

ANSELM KIEFER AND HIS PHILOSOPHERS
The course will explore the structural connection between Anselm Kiefer’s art and philosophy. Following the traces of Kiefer’s works and the numerous explicit references that can be found in his artistic practice, the proposed path will investigate the philosophical value of Kiefer’s art in light of the texts directly implicated in his expressive world. Art, mythology, mysticism, books, contemporaneity, history, life, tragedy, symbol, music, time, experience, and technique are some of the key themes of Kiefer’s art that live programmatically in the structural conversation with philosophical thought. From the pre-Socratic philosophers to Andrea Emo, the presence of the entire history of philosophical thought is consubstantial with Kiefer’s artistic practice. During the course, we will trace the philosophical and speculative questions that question the profound meaning of Kiefer’s art. The close dialogue with philosophy makes Anselm Kiefer one of the most profound and indispensable artists of our time.

Didactic methods
Although the frontal lessons will play an important role, they will be enriched by the discussions generated by the collective comparison on the themes evoked. Close reading and precise analysis of the proposed philosophical texts will be encouraged. These will be multisensory experiences, aimed at expanding the students' critical, perceptive and cognitive abilities. The active participation of the students will be encouraged, in order to build an educational environment that is as seminary as possible. There are no registrations for lessons.
Learning assessment procedures
- The exam will consist of an oral interview with the teacher on the topics covered in class and on the texts in the program. Students will be encouraged to prepare a short written text to explore the topics of the course, to be discussed collectively in the classroom and with the teacher (optional activity).
Evaluation criteria
The candidate will be assessed taking into account these fundamental aspects: - an appropriate use of the Italian language in reporting the contents of the course - an appropriate use of the specific terms of the disciplines involved (the history of the arts and some key terms of aesthetics evoked in the course) - the ability to establish analogical connections between the various artistic experiences analyzed in the course - the ability to grasp the speculative, and therefore philosophical, aspects at the heart of great art.
Criteria for the composition of the final grade
- The exam will consist of an oral interview with the teacher on the topics covered in class and on the texts in the program. The interview will begin (for those who have decided to do so) with the discussion of some aspects of the presentation given in class. - The evaluation method will be a grade out of thirtieths.

CONTAMINATION LAB
The Contamination Lab Verona (CLab Verona) is an experiential course with modules on innovation and enterprise culture that offers the opportunity to work in teams with students from all areas to solve challenges set by companies and organisations.
Upon completion of a CLab, students will be entitled to receive 6 CFU (D- or F-type credits).

PLEASE NOTE: In order to be admitted to any teaching activities, including those of your choice, you must be enrolled in the academic year in which the activities in question are offered. Students who are about to graduate in the December and April sessions are therefore advised NOT to undertake extracurricular activities in the new academic year in which they are not enrolled, as these graduation sessions are valid for students enrolled in the previous academic year. Therefore, students who undertake an activity in an academic year in which they are not enrolled will not be granted CFU credits.

Prova finale
Alla prova finale per il conseguimento della laurea magistrale in Storia delle arti sono assegnati 24 cfu. La prova finale consiste nella preparazione e nella discussione di una tesi di laurea magistrale, di non meno di 120 pagine scritte, elaborata in modo originale dallo studente sotto la guida di un docente relatore; è prevista la figura del correlatore. L'argomento della prova finale deve riguardare uno degli insegnamenti del piano di studi. I laureati devono saper dimostrare con il lavoro di tesi di aver applicato le loro conoscenze, di possedere capacità di comprensione e abilità nella risoluzione di problemi e nell'affrontare tematiche nuove in modo autonomo e in un contesto di ricerca e di progettazione originale. La discussione della prova finale ha luogo davanti a una Commissione composta secondo le relative norme del Regolamento didattico di Ateneo. Per la prova finale è previsto un massimo di 7 punti. Per l'attribuzione del punteggio la commissione si attiene ai seguenti criteri: 1) originalità dell'elaborato; 2) efficacia e coerenza nelle argomentazioni; 3) qualità della scrittura; 4) capacità dello studente di illustrare e discutere adeguatamente il suo lavoro davanti alla commissione. La votazione è espressa in centodecimi, a cui la Commissione può aggiungere, in casi di eccellenza, la distinzione della lode.
