Learning objectives
The course aims to teach the student the knowledge relating to biotechnological products for therapeutic use: proteins, nucleotides, monoclonal antibodies, cell therapies, gene and cell therapy. Knowledge will be provided relating to:
different types, extraction, purification and synthesis processes.
differences in terms of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics from drugs based on low molecular weight molecules
uses and therapeutic indications
clinical advantages and limitations
health aspects.
Examination Methods
Oral exam to verify the acquired knowledge. Given the novel and innovative nature of the theme, the exam will focus on questions relating to theoretical principles, examples of biotechnological products and comparisons to small molecule drugs.
Evaluation criteria
The exam will evaluate the correctness of the answers, the ability of critical reasoning, the quality of the exposition and the competence in the use of the specialized vocabulary. The grade is out of thirty: maximum score is 30/30.
