Learning objectives
This course is divided into five modules: Otolaryngology, Audiology, Diagnostic Imaging and Radiotherapy, Neurology and Neuropsychiatry
UNDERSTANDING, KNOWING AND RECOGNISING
- the various congenital and acquired diseases affecting the auditory and vestibular functioning
- the aetiopathogenetic mechanisms and phenomenological characterisation of auditory and vestibular disorders from a clinical and instrumental perspective, with particular attention to neuroradiological studies
- the effects, complications and prognosis of auditory and vestibular disorders
- congenital anomalies of the outer, middle and inner ear
- disorders of the central auditory and vestibular structures leading to a clinical expression characterised by hearing loss, tinnitus, imbalance
- neurodegenerative, metabolic and demyelinating diseases
- stages and alterations in the psychomotor development of children
Learning assessment procedures
All modules will be assessed simultaneously as a semi-structured written examination (open-ended questions, questions with multiple-choice answers including recognition of neuroradiological images) to be completed in 60 minutes. Grading in thirtieths.
It is possible to take the written diagnostic imaging and neuropsychiatry examination as an in itinere test.
The final grade, in thirtieths, will be the weighted average with 75% of the grade determined by the Audiology and Otolaryngology modules
Evaluation criteria
Simple and linear treatment of complex topics, using specialist terminology. Ability to summarise by conveying the key concepts of the topics covered. Good critical ability through examples applied to clinical practice
