Learning objectives
The course focuses on the main sociological dimensions of the concept of culture and communication. At the end of the course, the student must apply the main theoretical and methodological tools of the sociology of culture and communication.

From the perspective of the sociology of cultural and communicative processes, the course explores and discusses the following topics, supported by the contributions of classical and contemporary theorists:
- The concept of culture within sociological theory;
- The contribution of classical theorists to the sociology of culture;
- The process of constructing social reality and the role of culture;
- The fields of cultural production and communication processes;
- Communication in contemporary society;
- The role of new media in social consumption practices (especially tourism) in contemporary society;
- The role of social media in new consumption practices (especially tourism);
- Food and wine tourism: the social relationship with food in contemporary society;
- Communication, consumption, tourism: their role in the process of identity construction.

Didactic methods
The course will be taught through face-to-face teaching.
Learning assessment procedures
Written exam consisting of four semi-open questions and four closed questions.
Evaluation criteria
The aim of the exam is to assess the level of sociological knowledge acquired during the course and the ability to apply these knowledge to the sociological analysis of contemporary phenomena deepened during the course (particularly tourism, consumer practices, and new forms of communication, as well as the meanings that individual and collective actors attribute to these dimensions of social life). The evaluation criteria focus on the skills acquired by students in terms of systematic, including critical, organization of sociological tools, with particular reference to the course's central issues.
Criteria for the composition of the final grade
The final grade is the sum of the scores assigned to each answer.
