Learning objectives

Students will have to acquire on an operational level the procedures for the management, protection and valorisation of museum resources, framing the actions also from an administrative and economic, as well as cultural, profile. They will have to know and apply the digital tools necessary for the development of management plans or studies of territorial realities and be updated on the most innovative management systems.

Program

The course aims to explore the role of the contemporary museum as a relational cultural institution and a strategic player in territorial development processes by examining the following thematic areas: - Evolution of the concept of museum; contemporary museum models; the definition of museum in contemporary debate; institutional functions; social responsibility; - The museum space: exhibition and narration; itineraries and visitor experience; - Museums and the public: transformation of the public; communication in the contemporary museum; museum education; - Museum and development strategies: digital transformation; - Museums and society: museums and territory; organization and strategies

Didactic methods

The course includes lectures, group design activities, and case study analysis.

Learning assessment procedures

For attending students: oral exam on the theoretical content of the course and participation in a group project. Non-attending students will be required to study supplementary texts.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

For all: assessment of acquired knowledge of theoretical topics and understanding of the proposed models, demonstrating the ability to connect themes and mastery of disciplinary vocabulary. For attending students: active participation in co-design activities; proactiveness; group interaction.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

For attending students: oral exam: 60% group project: 40% For non-attending students the evaluation will concern the oral exam only.
