Learning objectives
The course initially aims to introduce students to soil and its main physical and chemical characteristics. It will then explore the concept of the rhizosphere as a fundamental element of soil-plant interaction, which influences the sustainability of agroecosystems and the quality of production, with implications for human health.
Prerequisites and basic notions
None
Program
Definition of soil and its components. Main soil properties. Definition of rhizospheric soil.
Composition of root exudates, microbial activity, and its modulation as a function of interaction with the plant, and enzymatic activity.
Influence of the rhizosphere on plant mineral nutrition and crop quality.
